SHADE TREES

Shade and Deciduous Tree Planting in Kentucky

A shade tree is usually planted for a result you will not fully see for years. That makes the decisions made now especially important: what tree, what size and where it belongs.

Big Tree Planting Co. sources, delivers and plants shade and deciduous trees across Kentucky. Some customers already have a tree in mind. Others simply know where they want more shade.

Plant for the Shade You Want Later

Maybe you want afternoon shade over a patio. Maybe an open front lawn needs a tree large enough to settle the space. A long driveway may need a row of trees, or a tree that was removed may have left the property feeling bare.

Those are different projects, even when the answer is a maple or oak.

We consider where the shade will be useful, how the tree will relate to the house and the amount of open ground available for it to develop. A tree should not only fit the empty space on planting day. It needs room to become the tree you hired us to plant.

CHOOSING A TREE

Maples, Oaks and Other Deciduous Trees

Red maples and sugar maples are often chosen for future shade, fall color and the presence they bring to a property. Oaks can be a strong choice for larger lawns, drives, farms and properties with room for a broad canopy.

Fast growth can sound appealing, but speed is only one part of the decision. The tree still needs to fit the available space, the conditions on the property and the way the area will be used as it matures.

We can also source other deciduous trees when another species, form or starting size makes more sense. If you are still researching options, our guide to the best trees to plant in Kentucky provides a useful starting point.

For larger starting trees that require heavier equipment and more involved delivery planning, see our large-tree planting service.

EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE WORK

Tree Planting Is Orlando's Favorite Work

Before starting Orlando's Landscaping, Orlando worked across Kentucky with one of the biggest tree-planting companies in the region. He managed crews handling tractor-trailer loads of trees and the work required to move them from delivery to their final locations.

Tree planting remains his favorite work.

That experience matters when a project involves more than choosing a tree from a picture. Delivery, access, handling and the order of the work all affect how a planting day goes, especially when the trees are large or the property includes several planting locations.

FROM OUR PROJECTS

Deciduous Tree Planting on Kentucky Properties

On a farm in Paris, our crew planted 113 trees across the property. The project included 68 deciduous oaks and maples along with 45 Norway spruce. The size of the trees, large root balls and distance across the property required coordinated delivery, equipment and irrigation planning.

Our other work includes a large American Red Maple planted on a Georgetown horse farm and sugar maples planted for a Carlisle wedding venue.

After planting, we explain the initial watering expectations and provide the information covered by our tree care and limited warranty.
